About Us

The St. Ann Parish Church was completed in September 1871. The church was consecrated by His Lordship the Bishop of Kingston, Rt. Reverend Reginald Courtney on Wednesday September 20, 1871 as the Church of St. Anne. The contract to erect the Parish Church was awarded to Climie, a Colonial Engineer. The main walls of this late Nineteenth Century Church are constructed of cut stone. Along each elevation of the building are a series of pointed arch windows. Between each window bay are buttresses. The apse of the Church is of a semi-octagonal shape with buttresses on the corner of each side, between which are pointed arch stained glass windows with the largest being at the east end of the building. The current choir of the St. Ann Parish Church is very dynamic, they lead the congregation in songs at worship. This arm of the church is led by Mr. Karl Fuller who has been the Organist for the past 68 years.

The parish church celebrated the 60th Anniversary of its Pipe Organ in 2013; This organ was built by J. W. Walker and Sons of England and erected at the St. Ann Parish Church in 1953. It was the result of the vision and leadership of Lawrence Barnes who was the organist at that time. The Pratt family of Mammee Bay, St. Ann was the main benefactor and the organ was erected in memory of Richard Pratt who died tragically in 1948. During 1987-88 the organ was overhauled and a solid state switching system installed through the generosity of Mrs. U. E. (Beth) Jacobs. In 2005 the organ was dismantled, stripped of old leather material and recovered with the best quality sheep skin, repaired and reassembled by J. T. Molineux of England at a cost of Two Million Dollars (J$2,000,000). Hanson Organ and Vidtronics of Discovery Bay installed digital additions and Midi-system thus providing new features and a wide range of sounds including chimes, thus making the organ more resonant.
